Saint
Patrick's Day is celebrated worldwide by Irish people and
increasingly by many of non-Irish descent (usually in Australia, North
America, and Ireland), hence the phrase,
"Everyone wants to be Irish on St. Patrick's Day." Celebrations
are generally themed around all things green and Irish, celebrating the
holiday by wearing green or orange, eating Irish food and/or green foods,
imbibing Irish drink, and attending parades.
The St. Patrick's Day parade in Dublin, Ireland, is part of
a five-day festival; over 500,000 people attended the 2006 parade. The
St. Patrick's Day parade was first held in the United States in 1737,
organized by the Charitable Irish Society in Boston. New York's celebration
began on 17 March 1762 when Irish soldiers in the British army marched
through the city. Ireland's cities all hold their own parades and
festivals. You'll find special St. Patrick Day parades,
celebrations and events in Colorado locations including Denver, Fort
Collins, Colorado Springs and many more charming
places throughout the state.

Innkeepers of Colorado welcomed the Honorable John Hickenlooper, Mayor
of Denver, Colorado, to the annual B&B Innkeepers of Colorado
conference, held at the historic Lumber
Baron Inn and Gardens in November 2007. In addition to great networking
opportunities, our innkeepers were educated on many issues and will
continue to strive toward excellence in B&B guest service.
Our special thanks to Mayor Hickenlooper, El Paso County Assessor Mark
Lowderman, Editor of AAA Encompass Magazine Jeff Miller, Communications
Director of the Denver Convention and Visitor's Bureau Rich Grant and all
of our speakers, vendors, sponsors, aspiring innkeepers and attendees. With
their support, our 2007 conference was a great success! A special
thanks to BBIC Vice President Sandee Rogers and the conference committee
for their efforts. Look for more information soon on the 2008 conference to
be held in October or November of this year...
