The Bross Hotel B&B has been Paonia’s premier lodging establishment for 110 years. Guests are welcomed in the front parlor and checked in to the 10 rooms, each with a private bath, located on the second and third floors. They are invited/encouraged to enjoy the perennial gardens, the porches, decks and patios, and the all-purpose lounge. The balcony is a favorite spot for a glass of wine before dinner. Located just one block from the town’s main intersection guests enjoy walking to fine restaurants, cultural activities, and shopping. The town park, the site of summer festivals and music events, is a short walk, also. The Bross Hotel is centrally located for participation in outdoor sports, visiting local wineries and farm markets, soaking in the beauty of the area and the art catalyzed by that beauty.

Have you tried ice fishing? Crawford State Park is offering you an opportunity to get in on the action without spending a dime on equipment. The park has kits that each include equipment for four people to get their hooks into the water — four ice fishing rods, tackle, an ice scoop, depth finder, and an ice auger upon request. So gather your friends or family and make a date to go fishing. Equipment can be picked up at the park office from 8 am to 4 pm. It must be used at the park and returned at the end of the day, Users must have a valid Colorado fishing license. After a day on the ice warm up with hot chocolate and goodies back at the Bross Hotel. Then go out for a good dinner before snuggling under that comfy quilt on your bed.
Remembering the Ladies
(Month of March)
In 1776 Abigail Adams wrote to her husband John, a representative to the Continental Congress, expressing her support for a Declaration of Independence. And, she urged him to “remember the ladies and be more generous and favorable to them than your ancestors” when writing new laws. Her plea is as important today as it was 241 years ago. The Equal Rights Amendment has not passed into law and the new Congress is threatening to return women to the time of their ancestors. We need to “remember the ladies”.
One way we can do that is to support the National Women’s History Museum. Let’s do that by having “Ladies Days” at the Bross Hotel during Women’s History Month (March). You get your girlfriends together for a night or two at the Bross Hotel and I’ll donate half the room revenue to the museum, which is currently waiting for Congress’s approval for a location on the National Mall. Meanwhile, the museum is providing much needed information on women’s contributions to society on its website (nwhm.org). Take a look at it and plan your girlfriends/ladies getaway for any date(s) in March. Just give me a call so your group gets their chosen date(s) on the calendar. Remember we have a large lounge that can be used for crafts, book discussions, movie viewing, and socializing.
I look forward to celebrating Women’s History Month with you and supporting the National Women’s History Museum.
