Manitou Springs first bed and breakfast was built in 1886 as boarding house. Today, our Victorian is recently renovated with seven spacious guest rooms that include private baths, most with claw foot tubs and showers. Each room is unique in its decor and views. The Avenue Hotel B&B is a blend of antique charm and modern elegance; a sitting room and a reading parlor are warmed with fireplaces and are framed with windows overlooking Manitou Avenue and the historic library park.
A three story turned staircase escorts you to your room. A scrumptious full breakfast is made and served each morning,homemade cookies, and snacks are provided throughout the day along with a hot beverage station. The rooms have AC and many have fireplaces. The hot tub is on the back patio for your enjoyment in the evening and the terraced garden and BBQ is perfect for summer parties and larger family groups.

Delicious Raspberry Oatmeal Cookie Bars
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup seedless raspberry jam
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease one 8 inch square pan, and line with greased foil.
2. Combine brown sugar, flour, baking soda, salt, and rolled oats. Rub in the butter using your hands or a pastry blender to form a crumbly mixture. Press 2 cups of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan. Spread the jam to within 1/4 inch of the edge. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the top, and lightly press it into the jam.
3. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes in preheated oven, or until lightly browned. Allow to cool before cutting into bars. Yield 1 - 8x8 inch pan
LEMON POPPY SEED MUFFINS
1 c. butter
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. fresh lemon juice
2 tsp. grated lemon peel
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
4 stiffly beaten egg whites
2 tbsp. poppy seeds
Cream together butter and sugar in a large bowl until smooth. Add egg yolks and beat until light. In a separate bowl, sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Add dry ingredients alternately with lemon juice to the creamed mixture. Stir after each addition but do not overmix. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites, poppy seeds and lemon peel. Spoon batter into prepared muffin tins and bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Yield: 12.
